The second jeweler I showed it to said Nope It is not a diamond. It is moissanite. Never if the tester is in good shape. CZ doesn't even register on the heat testers. Hold it up to a known diamond and fog test it. Diamonds dissipate heat so quickly, they don't hold the fog. Just heavy breath on that sucker like you're fogging glass and inspect it. If there's moisture on the one, but not on the diamond, you've got a fake. Easy test. Especially for larger stones. And here's an interesting twist.
Some fabricators are "gluing" on a thin sheet of diamond or using the diamond for the whole top of the stone If done, the whole underside of the stone is CZ, but the table is diamond. The result is a gem that "passes" the diamond test, but is actually two stones. These are VERY unlikely in most jewelry. They're called a "Doublet" if you're interested in doing research. If its a decent detector it should give you an accurate read.
Diamonds real ones suck up heat heat sink which is how they determine whether its real or not. A CZ stone wont pull heat off that probe so I'd say after changing batteries you should be able to trust the tester. User Name Remember Me? Will a CZ test as a diamond? I tested a large stone in a solitaire sterling setting. It is a Sarah Cov. I can't figure it out, my tester awalys told me right before, but now I am doubting.
